ANOTHER SUFFERER−We have so repeatedly warned Chess amateurs against the gentry known as the “shilling sharks” of vulgar divans, that those who now play with them have only their own folly to blame for the consequences. Take it as a rule, whenever you are accosted in a public room by a person who asks you if you are disposed for a game at Chess, and tells you it is customary to play for “a small stake,” that this individual has a design upon your pocket, and act accordingly.
